We participated to COP24 in Katowice!

Katowice Climate Change Conference
(UNFCCC COP 24)

December 2 – 14, Katowice, Poland

We were involved in a wide range of activities at this 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP24), promoting youth and civil society voices. The theme this year is Changing together.

For this event, the key objective was to adopt the implementation guidelines of the Paris Climate Change Agreement. We were present to ensure that climate’s impacts on water are recognized.

We co-convened:

  • Youth for Water and Climate – from local actions to policy making
    Tuesday, December 4 | 12:30 – 14:00 | Room: Vienna
Official EU side event organized with Global Water Partnership-Central and Eastern Europe, EcoOne and New Humanity
  • Tea talks
Youth get a special and unformal access to water and climate experts
Throughout the week | Room: Global Water Partnership booth (no. 126)

We were also present at the following activities:

  • Youth-Led Research and Innovation that provide solutions for Water Related Climate Change challenges – WYPW and YVPC participation
    Thursday, December 6 | 14:30 – 15:30 | Room: Indonesian Pavilion (UNESCO Session)
  • Water Action Day – presentation by a YVPC participant
    Friday, December 7 | 15:00 – 18:00 | Pomorze Climate Action, room 1

At COP 24, we promoted Youth Voices – Policy Choices. For more than 6 months, we have been working with youth from Central and Eastern Europe through different dialogue sessions dedicated to water and climate, advocacy and participation in the decision-making processes. These youth have developed key messages that will presented at COP24.

We are implementing Youth Voices – Policy Choices in collaboration with the Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) and the Youth Water Community Central and Eastern Europe (YWC CEE), thanks to the financial support of ERASMUS+.
