International Peace Day

SIE

We invite you to celebrate the International Peace Day this September 21st .

It is observed around the world each year since 1981, when the United Nations adopted a unanimous resolution. It provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace, above all differences, and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

This year’s #peaceday  celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Let’s keep in mind that access to clean water is a Human Right!

At the International Secretariat for Water, we are committed to promote water and peace in our actions for water and supporting the Blue Peace movement. Sharing water may be a subject of tension, but water can also be a vehicle for dialogue, cooperation and therefore … a factor of peace. We will support an event led by the World Youth Parliament for Water that we be held on Sept 28 at the University for Peace, located in Costa Rica. All day there will be seminars, exchanges, awareness raising activities and the broadcast of the Geneva Water Hub Symphony for Water and Peace.

Many activities will take place around the world: walking, meditation, music, etc. Check out this map and add your own event.
