World Youth Parliament for Water

The World Youth Parliament for Water is a youth network acting for water around the world. This movement of passionate young people from over 80 countries effects change at all levels: from local communities, where they implement concrete actions, to the United Nations General Assembly, where they advocate for youth participation in the water sector. The WYPW is supported by the International Secretariat for Water.

Every three years, the WYPW holds a General Assembly during the World Water Forum, to identify new members and develop an action strategy for the following three years.

Our latest General Assembly

In March 2021, the World Youth Water Parliament (WYPW) held its 5th General Assembly (GA) - which was labeled as the official preparatory event for the Road to Dakar 2022 (World Water Forum). With 600 registered participants, 18 interactive sessions, 20 workshops and more than 30 partner organizations, this Assembly was a major step in strengthening the global youth water movement and preparing for youth engagement at the World Water Forum in Dakar 2022. Due to the current health situation, this Assembly was organized in a bimodal format: a first part online and a second part that will take place in person in March 2022 in Senegal.

Mission

  • To coordinate youth water action and advocacy at the local, basin and international level.
  • To guarantee that the water sector recognizes youth as key stakeholders
  • To raise youth awareness of water issues
  • To encourage youth to build capacities and to act for water

We wish to extend our sincerest thanks to our partners. Special thanks to the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
