World Youth Parliament for Water

The World Youth Parliament for Water (WYPW) is a network of youth from 18 to 27  dedicated to fighting for the cause of water around the world.

This network has been active since 2002 and operates on local, national and international levels. In local communities Parliamentarians implement concrete actions. At the United Nations General Assembly they defend youth participation in water decisions.

The WYPW holds its general assembly every three years during the World Water Forum. At the assembly, it identifies new parliamentarians and develops an action strategy for the three following years.

Mission

  • To coordinate youth water action and advocacy at the local, basin and international level.
  • To guarantee that the water sector recognizes youth as key stakeholders
  • To raise youth awareness of water issues
  • To encourage youth to build capacities and to act for water
