Civil society’s call to strengthen international water governance

To address urgent water-related challenges and make the human rights to water and sanitation a reality, as well as to ensure the implementation of SDG 6 and all water-related goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, one UN intergovernmental conference dedicated to water every 46 years is not enough. At this rate, we will not achieve the goals that the States and the international community have set.

Based on the premise that the lack of political leadership and multilateral dialogue on water is slowing down progress towards international goals, civil society, gathered in the NGO coalition the Butterfly Effect, a global coalition of more than 140 NGOs and CSOs, calls on states and the international community to strengthen international water governance.
