Committed to Water at the COP26

CONFERENCE IN GLASGOW ON CLIMATE CHANGE (COP26)

We’re in Glasgow for the 26th UN Conference on Climate Change (COP26) to promote the role of civil society by emphasizing an approach that position the most vulnerable and marginalized one at the heart of solutions.

From October 31st to November 12th, 2021, representatives from more than 190 countries will gather in Glasgow, United Kingdom for this global climate summit. The conference aims to advance the objectives set out in the Paris Agreement and to accomplish the tasks necessary for its full realization. For the first time since the Paris Agreement, signatory countries must update their plan to reduce their country’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Several experts agree on the importance and urgency of COP26.

As a co-convener on multiple activities, we will be present to ensure the full consideration of climate change’s impact on water – climate change is water change. It is the first year that an official pavilion is dedicated to water within a COP – which is a first step but not the last.

Activities Program:

Today’s choices, Tomorrow’s Impact – Youth Action in the Water and Climate Nexus

Enhancing Climate Resilience by building capacity of youth in water

This session will highlight the successes and stories of young leaders and engineers building climate resilience through water. A powerful joint youth statement with clear climate policy recommendations will also be presented.

Challenges and contributions of indigenous peoples in Latin America in the face of climate change

The event aims to gather first-hand the voices of representatives of various indigenous groups from Latin America, Paraguay, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, and Mexico, on water and climate change. Over the course of a one-and-a-half-hour session, the group will seek to answer the question: What are the challenges and contributions indigenous to adapt to climate change? How is water resilience made? This event will provide clues on how remote Indigenous communities are facing and contributing to adaptation and water resilience to climate change.
