European Youth Event 2018

On April 1 and 2, the European Youth Parliament for Water will be present at the European Youth Event in Strasbourg, France. This event at the seat of the European Parliament is a gathering of engaged young citizens who want to make their voices heard.

President of the 14th Parliament Victor Macé will lead a workshop and group activity at the EYE over two days.

Water and Peace: A Cooperation Process is an interactive presentation and group activity. Participants get a sense of what it’s like to be a state actor sitting at the negotiating table for water resources. They are randomly assigned to water-rich or water-poor countries, and must then negotiate with other countries to obtain enough water for their citizens. The EYPW team will also present the Parliament to the workshop attendees.

The European Youth Parliament for Water is a youth network with a two-decade track record of fostering locally-engaged global citizenship.  One of the five themes of EYE2018 is “Local and global: protecting our planet”. It is our hope that attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the intricacies of transboundary water cooperation.

12 participants from throughout the European Union will be attending the EYPW’s workshop. We look forward to it!
