To thank him for his commitment to protecting water resources and for promoting water on a global level as a vehicle for peace, a Blue Passport was awarded to the Swiss Minister for Foreign Affairs, Didier Burkhalter, at the opening ceremony of the 13th European Youth Parliament for Water. In this way, the Minister’s status as a citizen of the Rhine River Basin was highlighted.
Basitan Baker, a Swiss artist and singer also received a blue passport on this occasion. His commitment to youth, to citizen participation and to water issues is exemplary. He participates in particular in the “Democracy without Borders” initiative, participating in the promotion of sustainable management of the Nile Basin through music, education and innovation, or “The Nile Project”. He is a citizen of the Rhone River Basin one of Switzerland’s major hydrographic basins.
