About 20 students in water management from the Institute of Geography at the University of Friedrich-Alexander Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, visited several institutions dedicated to water in North America (United States – Canada) during the month of April 2017.
This mission included the International Secretariat for Water (ISW) in Montreal. The Representation of the State of Bavaria in Quebec kindly offered its offices for this meeting. Mr. Michael Kelnberger opened the session with a welcome address on behalf of the Bavarian Representation, followed by Ms. Elisabeth Wild, ISW board member, and Pr. Tim Elrick of the Institute of Geography at the University of Friedrich-Alexander Erlangen-Nuremberg, who delivered the introductory speeches.
The session continued with a presentation on “Water management in Quebec”, by Luc Vescovi, ISW board member; another on “Water Management in Canada”, by Hannane Sellali, ISW program manager; and a presentation entitled “A Vision for the Great Lakes Basin, the St. Lawrence River and its Gulf”, by Vladimir Arana, program coordinator for the Americas at ISW.
The meeting was much appreciated by the delegation. The geography students will return a report on their findings of their visit to North America.
