13th Session of the European Youth Parliament for Water (EYPW) – SWE

From 13 to 20 March 2016, 51 young people from 17 European countries came together in Switzerland, at Burier high school for the 13th session of the European Youth Parliament for Water (EYPW). The theme for this session was “water and risk management”.

One of the highlights of the programme was the opening ceremony, with the young parliamentarians being welcomed by Swiss Minister of Foreign Affairs, Didier Burkhalter and the artist Bastian Baker. The Wednesday was dedicated to workshops on risk prevention, cooperation, communication and project management. On Thursday participants went out into the field. On Friday, following discussions with water experts and elected officials, preparations for the closing ceremony on the Saturday began.  This event brought together figures from the political, institutional, scientific and cultural worlds. The final declaration of this 13th edition of the EYPW was presented on this occasion.

To support the young MPs from this edition of the EYPW once they are back home, grants will be awarded to teams of two national delegations who undertake to work together on water projects. Great news for youth working for water!
