A model for rural water supply in Central Asia

The two projects implemented by the International Secretariat for Water in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to provide sustainable and affordable rural water services have developed an innovative model with great scaling-up potential! Thanks to long-standing experience in Central Asia (ISW started working in Uzbekistan in 1998) and promising results from both countries (160,000 people in 32 villages now with access to safe water), a total cost-recovery model has been developed.
