Do you want to be the new Water Generation? Take part to the Youth Central Asia Workshop at the Astana Expo 2017

The International Secretariat for Water and the Swiss Government invite all young people active in water sector, to apply to the Youth Central Asia Workshop (Astana, 16-20 June 2017).

Context

The Youth Central Asia Workshop is organized as a side event of the Blue Peace Central Asia: Dialogue for 2030 – Water Security and Inclusive Growth (18–20 June 2017), and seeks to feed the international and regional youth involvement in the water sector, especially to prepare them for the next World Water Forum, to be held in Brasilia in March 2018. This Youth Central Asia Workshop is organized in synergy with WYPW efforts and the CAYFWater.

Objectives
  • Valorize the local actions of youth active for water;
  • Expand the knowledge of the youth on water related issues and give them proper tools to be better actors for water;
  • Create ties between the different youth initiatives and allow new, concrete actions to emerge;
  • Define a vision to contribute to the international agenda of the water sector.
Themes 

The Youth Central Asia Workshop will be held under the theme ‘Innovative solutions to water issues in Central Asia: challenges and contributions of young people’.

In the global context of the SDG’s and especially, the Goal 6: Ensuring everyone’s access to water and sanitation and ensuring the sustainable management of water resources, the program will focus on 3 main issues for the region:

  1. Access to water and sanitation for all;
  2. Shared benefits related to water;
  3. Impact of Climate change on Water-Energy-Agriculture (Nexus).

Each issue will be addressed by exploring a specific case from the region. From the discussion with experts, the preparation done locally, and their experiences, young people will be invited to develop their own vision and solutions for Water in Central Asia.

When and Where

The Youth Central Asia Workshop will be organized in Astana, Kazakhstan, June 16-20, 2017 in the framework of the Universal Exhibition.
It will be organized by the International Secretariat for Water and hosted by the Swiss Government on the Swiss Pavillon.

Who can apply?

Young people between 18 and 30 years old.

From Central Asia region (Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan).

From nearby countries (target countries: Mongolia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Russia).
