Syr Darya River Basin Youth Dialogue

The International Secretariat for Water (ISW), he CAY4W, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and their partners are organizing the Second Youth Basin Dialogue in the Syr Darya Basin. It will be held physically in the frame of the 2nd High-Level International Conference on International Decade for Action taking place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan between June 6 and June 12, 2022. 

After participating at the program of the conference, 30 participants from the 4 riparians countries of the Syr Darya Basin will meet on the Reservoir of Nurek Dam for 3 intensive days of exchange and learnings.

The participants will have an opportunity to learn from international and regional experts to broaden their understanding and enhance their knowledge on sharing waters, with perspectives from transboundary management and cooperation. It will also be an occasion for the participants to put into practice the Blue Peace Index calculation.

Mr Guy Bonvin, Swiss Special Envoy on Water in Central Asia, Mark Zetoun, director of the Geneva Water Hub, Matus Samel from the Economist impact, Dinara Ziganshina, Head, SIC ICWC of Central Asia, Katie Goldie-Ryder from SIWI will be among the experts and partners joining our participants.

This series of dialogues in Central Asia are aiming for young water professionals to better understand the importance of increasing dialogue and interactions at the basin level, between the states and between the populations and numerous stakeholders.
