Sara holds a master’s degree in interdisciplinary research and studies on Eastern Europe and a bachelor’s degree in intercultural and linguistic mediation from the University of Bologna, Italy.
She lives in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where she first moved in 2019 to research the social impact of water management programmes in the Aral Sea region. Since then, she has worked with international NGOs and then as a consultant with various UN programmes on project development, reporting, research, and programme management. During this time, she has mobilized resources for various projects and has become familiar with cultural, social and economic issues in Central Asia, particularly with themes linked to gender equality, health, human rights and sustainable development.
As the Youth Sector Project Manager for Central Asia, Sara coordinates the CAY4W Network and works to amplify the voice of the young water leaders in the region
