Once more, UNESCO brings together its actors and partners to share innovative, holistic and sustainable solutions to contemporary challenges regarding water governance and management. These influence health, gender equality, education and means of subsistence, as well as the environment, making water resources a crucial element of sustainable development and poverty reduction.
Therefore, this year’s theme is «Leveraging the intersectoral management of water resources for sustainable water security and peace».
In an integrative and transversal perspective, all discussions will focus on covering UNESCO’s two global priorities of Africa and Gender Equality. Small island developing States will also be at the heart of the discussions. As a priority group of UNESCO, they face a future that offers no certainty other than the daily challenges related to water.
