The Blue Book Peru official presentation was held in Lima last October. As all the Blue Books, the goal of the Blue Book Peru was to start a process that could create positive and effective changes for the whole water sector.
The presentation had a great echo in Peru – which was the reflection created by the Blue Book dynamic ! More than 150 people participated in this ceremony, including the Vice-minister of construction and sanitation, the Cabinet Chief of the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture General Manager, the Latin American Development Bank-CAF Representative and many international cooperation organizations and obviously a strong civil society’s presence.
The Blue Book process does not end with the presentation of the Blue Book:
- The Vice-Minister of Construction and Sanitation has invited the Peru Blue Book National Committee to meet with Civil Society organizations to develop joint activities to comply with the Blue Book targets.
- A Monitoring process has been implanted. It is a way to promote change with the commitment of authorities and civil society.
- More debates are taking place strengthening the role of the Blue Book Peru and its value as a monitoring tool of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 – Objective 6.
Likewise, the International Secretariat for Water prepares a document that capitalizes the Blue Book Peru experience to contribute guiding other Blue Books initiatives.
