WYPW launches its 2021 General Assembly

The WYPW is officially launching the registration for its 2021 General Assembly!

Every three years, young talented people from all over the world are gathered to work together, shaping, and sharing youth perspectives for a more sustainable future regarding water and sanitation. This is also an opportunity to renew the membership of the network, elect new representatives, and develop an action plan for the following three years.
The past editions of the General Assembly were held during the World Water Forum and allowed for hundreds of youth from all over the world to expand their knowledge regarding water and sanitation, develop essential skills, expand their network, and advocate for proper youth representation.

 

This year, the General Assembly, a Road to Dakar 2022 satellite event, will propose a new and innovative format that will maximize the potential impact of the event while ensuring the health and safety of all participants. The GA will present a bimodal program combining online and in-person activities.

The first part of the General Assembly will be held entirely online and will allow for all current and new members of the WYPW to participate in this event.

This event will aim to mobilize young leaders, connect with leading youth partners and stakeholders, and empower the youth.  Its engaging program consists of 5 days of panels with high-level speakers, interactive parallel sessions, networking events, leadership development, capacity building workshops, contests, and a lot more.

The four main themes of the General Assembly program are:

  • Shaping the World Youth Parliament for Water
  • Accelerating Innovation and Local Action
  • Water security for peace and development
  • The power of youth

As for where parallel sessions and networking events will be open to all participants, special workshops and activities will be reserved for the participants selected to be part of one of the five working groups. If you wish to be part of one of these working groups and get the chance to work on a concrete initiative throughout the week, build a special bond with a group of inspiring members of the WYPW and contribute to the success of the GA, we invite you to apply!

The second part of the General Assembly will be held during the 9th World Water Forum (March 2022). More information will be shared throughout the year.

Both parts of the event will be co-organized by the World Youth Parliament for Water and the International Secretariat for Water.
